Volang: Tis the Season for Knitted Scarves and Hats

One of the reasons Kristel Delevante, founder of Volang, got into fashion has a lot to do with where she was born and grew up: Estonia.  As part of the former Soviet Union, living in Estonia meant having to wear clothes with no character, usually drab grey and black.  This was the primary motivation growing up to dress differently, with a unique point of view.  Eventually, she began to make her own clothes, thanks to her grandmother, who taught her how to sew, crochet, and knit.

Years later, she is in NYC and her business is thriving.  Her one-of-a kind knitted and crocheted hats and scarves are ubiquitous in in the city.  Using only high quality wool and using colors that are a far cry from her childhood days, you can just tell by looking at the scarves, and the hats, especially, are by Volang.  Kristel and her team have been selling at The Market NYC for the last four years.  In addition, they participate in holiday markets, designer events, and craft shows including the prestigious events like Grand Central Holiday Fair and the One-of-a-Kind Show in Toronto.

Now she has recently taken the company in a direction with her own retail store in Williamsburg that opens next weekend (see flyer below). Now you can shop Volang everyday of the week. Volang Store is open everyday and located at 290 Graham Avenue (between Powers and Grand), Brooklyn, NY (L Train to Graham).  They can also be found on Saturdays and Sundays at The Market NYC
